Very few network technologies have received as much hype as the SmartGrid. The Smart Grid may be the largest build out of a communication network ever attempted, allowing a electric utility to directly reach into homes and business to manage energy usage. The question is will it work? Does anyone care? Is there a rational Return on the Investment in Smart Grid Technology for either consumers or the Utilities? Who owns all of this energy usage data? This presentation will offer a somewhat skeptical view of the state of the SmartGrid at this point in time.
