LISP is a new protocol that utilizes a level of indirection to separate an IP address into two namespaces, One being an endpoint identifier (EID) and the other a routing locator (RLOC). LISP provides benefits for multi-homed sites, reducing numbering, controlling ingress traffic patterns, and allowing movement with-out end-node (hosts) IP address change. LISP is an architecture to allow the routing and addressing architectures for the Internet to scale. This Tutorial will provide a general overview of the LISP architecture, as well as a detailed example of how to use LISP to provide full featured site multi-homing.
