The Smart Grid and Green IT promise many benefits and savings across the entire design, building, construction and real estate industries.  With this shift come new considerations, new regulations, and new areas for opportunity. The Smart Grid may be the largest build out of a communication network ever attempted, allowing a electric utility to directly reach into homes and business to manage energy usage.

This year’s conference will address:

  • identity, security and new consideration for companies
  • consumer adoption, environmental benefits and privacy concerns
  • energy providers to improve the performance, load management and demand response capabilities of their Smart Grid investments
  • How proper energy productivity monitoring and management can impact both operational and capital expenses
  • increasing level of intelligence and integration of new information and communication technologies in every aspect of the electricity system.
  • How to create a smaller energy footprint
  • Privacy and the Smart Grid

About the Audience:

Smart Grid conference is part of Ecobuild America event which includes the annual meeting of the National Institute of Building Sciences. Attendees will include a mix of building industry professionals including architects, engineers, contractors, facility managers and IT professionals. Other participants will include stakeholders from utilities, power management systems, HVAC vendors, smart building systems and consulting companies.  We also expect a strong representation from the Federal government, given the venue.

About the Content:

Speakers are expected to have detailed expertise in the areas that they will discuss.  Our preference is for case studies and real-world examples of evolutionary, revolutionary and green field approaches to achieve the Smart Grid.  These can be from vendors, but straight sales pitches will be rejected.   Content should focus on the inter-dependence of IT, physical plant and policies and procedures.

Presentations will be 90-minute sessions. The conference organizers will decide on final format based on the speaker pool and topics. We may also include multi-party panel sessions that do not require presentations; please indicate if you would be willing to participate in these.
